Treadmill
Smart Speed

Your treadmill already knows how fast you’re running. This tells Zwift — no foot pod, no calibration, no sensor taped to your shoe.

What it does

Treadmill Smart Speed sends your running speed to any app that reads a standard Bluetooth foot pod. It speaks the same protocol the expensive sensors do, so as far as Zwift is concerned you are wearing one.

There are three ways to give it your speed. Dial it in by hand to match the treadmill, which is the most accurate. Let your iPhone’s motion sensor estimate it. Or pair an Apple Watch and send speed, cadence and heart rate together.

It also broadcasts incline, which Zwift picks up when the gradient is above zero, and an estimated power figure if you want a feel for your output.

Setting it up with Zwift

  1. Open Treadmill Smart Speed on your iPhone.
  2. Start Zwift on your other device.
  3. In Zwift, go to the run pairing screen.
  4. Pair with Treadmill Smart Speed.
  5. Start running.
  6. Match the speed in the app to your treadmill’s speed.
